Born in a nomadic Berber camp near Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi dunes, Hassan grew up weaving through golden waves, learning to navigate by constellations and share stories around crackling campfires. His childhood was steeped in Berber traditions—herding goats, brewing mint tea over embers, and listening to elders recount tales of ancient caravans and desert spirits.
In his late teens, Hassan’s thirst for knowledge led him to be Fluent in Arabic, Berber (Tamazight), English, and Spanish, he has a gift for turning every stop into a story—whether it’s the history of Ait Ben Haddou’s mud-brick towers or the secrets of a perfect tagine. His desert roots give him an uncanny ability to read the land, from spotting hidden oases in the Draa Valley to knowing the best dune for a sunset climb.
Since joining Sahara Serenity Tours in 2015 as a founding guide, Hassan has led over 100 journeys, from 4-day sprints to 10-day epics, with a warmth that makes strangers feel like kin. Guests love his insider touches: a surprise tea with nomads in Merzouga, a quiet trail in Todra Gorge, or a stargazing lesson under the Sahara’s infinite sky. Off-duty, he’s a proud father of three, teaching his kids to love the desert as he does, and a champion for sustainable tourism, supporting Berber cooperatives that empower local artisans and preserve the land.
