Biography

Omar is the essence of the Sahara, a guide for Sahara Serenity Tours whose life was shaped by the golden dunes of Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi. Born in a nomadic Berber tent beneath a vast desert sky, Omar grew up weaving through sand trails, learning to read the stars like a compass and coax warmth from a campfire for the perfect mint tea. His childhood was filled with Berber lore—stories of ancient caravans, desert spirits, and the art of surviving the Sahara’s extremes, passed down by his nomadic elders.

He is Fluent in Arabic, Berber (Tamazight), English, French,Spanish, and a touch of Italian, he transforms every tour into a journey through Morocco’s soul. Since joining Sahara Serenity Tours in 2018, Omar has guided over 60 adventures, from 4-day desert sprints to 10-day cultural odysseys, earning raves for his warmth and wisdom.

As a guide, Omar’s magic lies in his details: pointing out hidden fossils in Erfoud, arranging tea with nomads in the Draa Valley, or leading a camel trek with his trusted companion, “Nutmeg,” to a perfect Erg Chebbi sunset spot. His stargazing sessions, weaving Tuareg myths about constellations, turn desert nights into unforgettable tales. Whether navigating Fez’s medina or Todra Gorge’s cliffs, he makes every guest feel like a friend exploring his homeland.

Off-duty, Omar mentors Merzouga’s young Berbers, teaching desert navigation, and supports local cooperatives preserving traditional crafts like weaving and pottery. His guiding philosophy? “The Sahara is a story, and every traveler adds a verse.” With Omar, you’re not just exploring Morocco—you’re part of its poetry.

Fun fact: Omar says he can tell a dune’s age by its shape—challenge him on your trek!
